So I might be just a drop of water in the ocean here, but you know what? If you are straight, I will love you. If you are gay, I will still love you. If you wear tight clothes, I will still love you. If you are as flamboyant as anything, I will still love you. If you want a face full of piercings, I will love you. If you’re pregnant at 13, I will love you. If you ‘turn’ gay on me, I will still love you, because hell, your Mummy knows how confusing your own sexuality can be, especially if “this is what you MUST DO to be HAPPY!” is being crammed down your throat 24/7 and you’re so desperate not to feel so damn sad any more, you start believing it. (I will do everything within my goddamn power to make sure you don’t believe that, I swear that right now.)

I will support you and be there for you and I will love you, no matter how you identify. I will never physically injure you, I will not kick you out of the house, I will not drop you somewhere and run, I will not disown you, and I will not put you up for adoption for any of the abovementioned things. I will try to never have you believe you are anything but amazing, that what you feel and for who, wherever they are on the gender spectrum, is valid and real, and I will always be there for you, always.

If that’s hard for me as a parent? I’ll stress about it, probably — oh hell yes, Mummy is a stressmonkey (your other Mom will tell you that repeatedly, I’m sure) — but I will never, ever, ever regret bringing you into my life, and I will never be anything but supportive, ever.

Hell, kiddo…you may go through stuff I have absolutely no idea about. But the support and the love still stands. It is unconditional and always will be.

And I will make sure you know it. In this seething mass of revolting hate, that by the time you are born — I hope — will have lessened some, I will always be love, and I will always love you, and I hope you’ll be love, as well. You’ll feel like an alien amongst humanity, sometimes, and you’ll wonder why, and you’ll be angry, and that’s okay. I’d never tell you not to. But at the end of the day, I hope that love — your love, your siblings’ love, your mothers’ love — will be able to soothe the sting of that. For you, and for everyone you care for.

I love you, kid. It’s unconditional. Remember that, through life. I can’t wait to meet you, whenever it is you pop up.
